Luxurious Gold Fur

Fendi, Fall 2008 Collection

I read about this new technology in a magazine (I cannot remember which, but it was probably W magazine), and I was completely intrigued. Who wouldn't wear gold fur? I mean seriously, if someone gave you a beautiful Fendi fur coat with gold infused hairs, I know you would just die, and love to wear it when ever you could. This gold I am speaking of, it is not your regular 10 karat gold. These coats contain 24 karat gold particle deposits that make the fur extra soft against the skin. It is truly a breakthrough and I would love to see more of these types of technology on the runway.

Read a short article and comments on Conde Nast Portfolio.

Also, from the same collection (Fendi, Fall 2008), this beautiful knitted over coat. The gold fur skirt is lovely with it.

This stunning knitted top to me, is one of the highlights of the collection. The shape of it is just awe inducing and so inspiring.

Vicuna Fiber

Vicuna is the finest and softest wool on earth. It is also the most expensive fiber you can find.

"Current prices for vicuña yarns and fabrics can range from $1,800 to $3,000 per yard. Vicuña fiber can be used for apparel (such as socks, sweaters, accessories, shawls, coats, and suits) and home fashion (such as blankets and throws). A scarf costs around $1500 while a man's coat can cost up to $20,000." - Wikipedia

Yarborough Fiber Jewelry

Innovations are popping up all over the knitting/fashion world, and this is one of them. These beautiful bracelets and bangles will leave you lusting for more and more luxurious yarns to add to your stash. They would also be great conversation starters. I can even see crafty fashionistas coming up with their own takes on this idea. Imagine the endless posibilites! At first I didn't think the pairing of the textured bangle over the texture of a knitted sweater would work, but it seems to look perfect in the first image I have provided (via shopbop.com of course) here. Feel fabulous and glamorous this holiday season, in whatever fiber you choose to surround yourself in :)

Here is a short designer bio taken from shopbop.com:

"Former book editor Elizabeth Yarborough studied literature and writing at Vassar College and the University of St. Andrews. In the spring of 2006, she left the corporate book world, embarking on an arts and crafts spree in her East Village apartment, an adventure which evolved into her jewelry line. With humor and an eye toward deconstruction, her designs subvert traditional wardrobe staples, reintroducing them in innovative, surprising ways. Her jewelry has been featured in Vogue and Vanity Fair."
